9Romania1858, Moldavia, simple letter with 40 par. Bull Head, blue on bluish paper, sent from JASSY MOLDOVA 3/11, light blue pmk., to GALLATZ. The content of the letter dates it in 1858, as the bluish paper of the stamp shows. The 40 par. stamp is belonging to the first printing, issued on the 1st of November, 1858. This item is the earliest known item (the 3rd of November, 1858). This item is the most important one for the second Moldavian Bull Head issue and for the usage of these stamps. The letter has hand annotation on front, proving the fact that the postal fee was paid by the sender. Photo certificate Leonard Pascanu. Ex col. Mateescu-Sinaia, Tulbendgian and Savoiu. Unique opportunity both for high level collectors and investors. The stamp was removed from the letter in order to expertize it, being reatached with one light hinge. Exceptional item.20000image

23Romania1865, 20 Parale Cuza issue on letter sent from PITESCI 31/12 (1865) to WIEN (Austria), extremely rare item using Romanian stamps for abroad sending. This franking covered the postal fee from PITESCI to BUCHAREST - arrival postmark BUCURESCI 2/1 (1866) on reverse. In Bucharest, the item passed to Austrian Post Office, which applied the BUCURESCI 2/1 postmark and sent the letter to Wien with PORTO postmark and 15 (Kr.) handwritten tax. Arrival pmk. in red - 9.II.Fr. WIEN. This is a recent discovery and one of only two such items (and the most beautiful), the other being illustrated by Fritz Heimbüchler in his monography. The cover was folded (as normal) without affecting the stamp and postmarks, beautiful quality, extremely rare, fantastic item!9000image

66Romania1872, 15 Bani + 25 Bani Paris issue on cover sent fro FOLTICENI 15 OCT. (18)72 to GALATI and redirected to TULCEA. October 15th 1872 is the third day of circulation for Paris issue, this cover having the earliest known date of circulation for both 15 and 25 Bani. The cover was franked with 40 Bani because it was sent to Turkish territory (Tulcea). The sender anticipated that the cover will be redirected from Galati to Tulcea ('la Galati sau Tulcea') and used the 40 Bani franking knowing that the rate/fee from Folticeni to Galati was 10 Bani (see the '10' figure written by the postman). The correct franking of the cover would have been 10 Bani (Folticeni to Galati) and another 40 Bani (Galati to Tulcea). Arrival postmarks on reverse as follows: GALATI 17 OCT. (18)72 and TULCEA 18/10 (Austrian Post Office postmark). Spectacular and unique item.1500image
